Our Mission
The mission of the School Counseling Program in the International Student Center at John Overton High School is to help every student achieve success in his/her first years of school in the United States, to prepare students for transition into the mainstream school environment, in extra-curricular activities, and in life through an open-door policy, cultural and linguistic awareness, social and emotional support, and empowering them to advocate for themselves in and out of the school setting. The mission is to guide all students towards graduation and fulfillment of post-secondary goals.

Our Vision
The counseling department in the International Student Center at John Overton High School is available to all students, with an extra focus on students in the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing pathway and newly arrived immigrant students, in an effort to help them prepare for post-secondary academic and career goals through career counseling, college and vocational school admissions assistance and tools for success. We will always strive to assist students in excelling in 21st Century skills to make themselves more marketable in the global business world of today. Our vision is to support all students whether their post-secondary goals include furthering their education or alternate career endeavors.
