Carol Chaparro was born and raised in Florida. She came to Tennessee in 2007 settling first in the small town of Red Boiling Springs where she lived with her husband and children until 2014. In 2014 she began working as an English Language Development teacher for the English Language Learner population at Hunters Lane High School and eventually moved to Nashville.
Ms. Chaparro is a language and culture enthusiast. This love of language and culture is what propelled her to visit Mexico as a young adult where she first began to teach English as a Second Language. While in Mexico, she met the man who would later become her husband. By marrying someone from Mexico, she has been immersed in the Latino community which has only served to increase her love and compassion for the immigrant population. This compassion eventually drove Ms. Chaparro to return to college and pursue her degree in Professional School Counseling in order to help advocate for these students and give them a voice. Once completing her master's degree, she took a job at John Overton High School as a school counselor in their International Student Center working with newly arrived immigrant students.

Ms. Chaparro's philosophy is that all children and young adults can excel if they are empowered and given the tools necessary to pursue their goals and dreams!
